Stress and High Blood Pressure - Is There a Connection and What Can You Do About It?
You would probably think that stress has a direct impact on blood pressure wouldn't you? Stress can obviously spike your blood pressure but surprisingly, there is no firm evidence that it can cause long term high blood pressure. With today's hectic pace of life and all the challenges we face with employment, finances, relationships and even the morning commute, it would be logical to think those constant stresses would elevate your pressure. However the jury is still out on that one.
What everyone will agree to is that less stress is better.
Stress triggers the fight or flight response in our bodies which was useful years ago when facing animals or others that represented a physical threat. This response releases hormones which, among other things, causes blood pressure to rise. However, today our stress is usually caused by perceived threats not physical ones. This makes no difference to the body and it continues to pump out adrenaline and cortisol. Not only that, but we do not respond to the perceived threat by fighting or running so the hormones are not burned off but linger in the body keeping pressure elevated until they wear off naturally.
While researchers cannot find a direct link between stress and hypertension, they theorize that the stress may cause behavior like overeating, smoking, increased alcohol use and sleeplessness that contribute to HBP. There's another concern that emotional stress from anxiety or panic disorder may also create self destructive behavior like not taking prescribed medication for blood pressure.
It would seem apparent however, that even if there is no direct link, your blood pressure, and your overall health, would be better off with less stress in your life.
Easier said than done right?
In today's world stress is just part of the countryside. It is an everyday occurrence and it would seem that there isn't a great deal we can do about it. But there are some ways to manage it.
Identify the stressors. Understand that the things that you think cause stress like the job, money and or health issues really aren't. Your brain simply sees them as threats and so responds accordingly. If you list the stressors and then methodically figure out the best way to deal with them, they become challenges and your brain will react to them differently. It's like being stalked by a mugger and your brain gets you ready to run. But when faced with a difficult math problem, your brain simply gets you ready to think.
Exercise, sleep and meditation methods like yoga and deep breathing can help the physical side of stress. There's even a method called binaural beats that "trains your brain" to relax.
But if you're reading this you probably have, or know someone who has, high blood pressure. And you're probably stressing over it which of course starts the endless cycle of stress, higher pressure, more stress. You have to treat this disease the same you would any other stressor.
Turn it into a challenge. Learn what you have to do to control your condition. Maybe it's drugs, maybe you can use a natural approach or maybe you need to combine both. What you absolutely have to do is take action. Without action the stress remains and so does the high blood pressure.

Being Accountable Can Help You Lose Stubborn Belly Fat
Holding yourself accountable to lose stubborn belly fat can be done in a number of ways. The reason that you should find ways to be responsible is so that your weight loss will continue on the right path. It can be easy to start making mistakes in your eating and exercising choices. However, having someone that you must share your success with will make it more likely for you to be motivated to making good decisions.
Joining a weight loss support program can sometimes give us the push we need to slim down. With this type of support, you will be among other who are having difficulties staying on track as well. Many of these groups weigh in at each meeting. This should not feel like an embarrassment, but rather be a feeling of accountability. Everyone is counting on everyone else to lose weight between each meeting, so you can feel more motivated to stay on track. If you do not have a program like this in your area, enlisting the support of family and friends can be just as effective.
Having a work out partner can also help you lose stubborn belly fat. The main reason that people make excuses for going to the gym is because they do not like to go alone. Having someone to hit the gym with will make the time go by faster. Being able to chat with someone while on the treadmill makes it feel less like a chore. On the days that you really do not feel like stopping by the gym, your work out buddy can be there to push you to changing your mind. Even when you are feeling sluggish, a good support person can help motivate you to get things done to lose weight.
Taking note of your daily eating habits will also hold you accountable to yourself. Some people do not realize the amount of unhealthy foods they consume in one day. If you are serious about your weight loss, tracking calories is a must. You need to understand where you are getting your nutrition, and whether you need to make changes to your diet. Write down everything that you eat, including the portion size of each food. There are online databases that will tell you how many calories each food is, which will allow you to see how good - or bad - you are eating.

Natural Ways to Lower High Blood Pressure
There may be no need to try drugs when there are actually many natural ways to lower a high blood pressure. In this article, I'll show you some of the basic lifestyle and dietary changes that you can make that are usually sufficient for most people to normalize their b.p.
Sodium Intake
The level of your blood pressure is highly related to your sodium intake, most of which comes from the salt in your diet. We all need some salt to live but most of us get too much, either from adding it ourselves or more likely from prepared meals that are adulterated with way too much salt.
Try to cut down on your salt in a major way.
Potassium
Potassium helps to lower sodium so get more of it in your diet (most of us are deficient) and you will get lower blood pressure. The best way to do this is to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
Losing Weight
A lot of people have battled against excess weight and are turned off by this advice. All I can say is that excess weight will kill you! The good news is that even 5 pounds of weight loss can cut your risk of complications by half. Anybody can lose 5 pounds of weight!
Exercise
Regular exercise is beneficial for blood pressure in many different ways. Even if you ignore the possible weight loss, exercise helps to widen the arteries with time and this leads to a lowering in pressure.
Vitamins
There are a ton of vitamins that are known to help reduce blood pressure. Some are antioxidants and lower levels of nitric oxide, some control levels of calcium in a similar way to blood pressure drugs and others widen the blood vessels.
Make sure you are getting enough of vitamins C, E, B6 and D.

Blood pressure disease can be termed by two deficiencies. One is high and the other is low. In this article I will explain how to prevent high blood pressure or hypertension. It is very dangerous if the blood pressure is extremely elevated and everyone should focus on understanding and maintaining their blood pressure. 2 tips to prevent hypertension are;
o Eat foods high in potassium. This will combat hypertension as the more potassium a patient's body has the less potent their hypertension will become. Avoid foods with sodium in them such as salt and licorice.
o Check your blood pressure as often as you can. This will help enable you to anticipate how much you need to exercise and what to eat as you will understand your flaws. Keep up these tips and you will be sure to improve your blood pressure.
So once you have these steps in place what next? Try aerobic exercising, do it with a friend and you will be encouraged. Compare blood pressure results and make a competition about it, this will keep it in your mind, it can be difficult but it is definitely worth it in the end. Another tip to consider is to educate others about hypertension, this will help your confidence in what you are doing and improve others lifestyles too.
